This morning, as I read the Wall Street Journal, I was reminded of one of my favorite artists.
The subject painting was, "The Calling". Luke a money changer was called by Christ and Peter to a new life .
The shadows and light, the clothing of Peter and Christ, contrasting to the clothing of Luke and his companions,
all foreshadow, the reality of life, new, old, light , dark. Our eyes roam the painting seeing some faces in light, some in shadow.
This is what music also does, it soars and drops, it races and slows, it layers, and unlayers, it contrasts, and overlays.
All our endeavors match life as we know it.
Caraveggio, was a guy that got in a lot of trouble, so if you decide to view the movie, see it first without the "kids" .
