music, thoughts, books, dreams, more

Just my world of dreams, music and thoughts. Author of two books, one a novel of Love stories set in Framingham, Mass, Secrets of the Heart the 2nd book an autobiography of growing up in Framingham, Mass. Small Town America, Framingham My generation was the first teenage generation, that was when the word was coined. Ours was the generation that started cruising through town and to the drive in theater and drive in restaurant. In our area, Ernie Kampersal, from Holliston, drove his bucking car through town, picking up girls. It rose in the air, like a stallion! We went to the soda shops and played the juke boxes. It was a different town, a different time, and it belonged to us!

Berry Gordy Jr. Biography - life, family, parents, name, story, history, school, mother, information, born, movie, contract

Berry Gordy Jr. Biography - life, family, parents, name, story, history, school, mother, information, born, movie, contract  Growing up listening to this music, I thought what great music comes out of Motown, and now I know it was the musical genius and ear that turned the groups they worked with into stars!

Not that they did not have talent, don't misunderstand, remember I am just a regular music lover, but ...I could feel the talent, someone had to be directing it....and I loved, loved, loved Motown...

as I always say, we need another , "Wolfman," and we need a new comer that is the Motown of our age...Yeah!

Lee Morgan - The Sidewinder

Here is the song Sidewinder, John P is mashing up with

Andrea Bocelli Live - Cuando Me Enamoro (2006)

This song is a winner for guitar and voice

St. Elmo's Fire (Man in Motion)John Parr

sydney opera house light show VIVID SYDNEY 2011

this is wonderful

Eros Ramazzotti & Tina Turner - Cose della vita live

Tina has appeared with many big name stars, but her voice is best with this star....listen to her  jams, with Mick J.  Paul McC, and others..

tina turner -70 years old

Imagine girls, yoga, Bhudda, and this is what happens at 70

Jerry Lee Lewis - Boogie Woogie Country Man

Wow, he could really boogie...

Micke Muster - Boogie Woogie Country Girl.mpg

Sounds like Jerry Lee Lewis?

northern soul-big joe turner-two loves have i

As a contrast ...this is a great arrangement , different sound, different voice, different voice...

J'ai Deux Amours by Madeleine Peyroux

I love this, her arrangement, her voice, all just great!

Madeleine Peyroux Dance me to the end of love

this is one of her best!

Madeleine Peyroux - Walkin' After Midnight

Personally, I think that Madeleine Peyroux has talent and a unique voice that is suitable to jazz.  I hope she can increase her sales and visibility.

The Four Aces - Tell Me Why (1951)

this had a hit on the flip side, Garden  in the Rain.  I love that best by Sarah Vaughn.  I still have my collection of 45, and some 78's do you?

The Ink Spots- I don't want to set the world on fire.

We played this over and over on a 45 record....many still in my collection

Dells - Oh, What A Night (RARE 1969 clip)

This is a song that lives ....a good song to try...it reminds me of how important your record company is, and how they choose music.  Are you in the right place?  Barry Gordy had an ear for what was right for his artists!

Frankie Lymon - Goody Goody (Live)

This was a great version....of the song...probably the best...it fits his voice and the beat is right

Cheyenne graduated from Portsmouth Abbey School

Our graduate, Cheyenne, ready for college, hiding her singing voice, too shy to sing publicly!

Robert Palmer - Simply Irresistible

See the difference , and the response....this is better for his voice, the arrangement and even without the eye candy, it is good!

Robert Palmer LIVE - "Goody, Goody" - '92, stereo

I like Robert Palmer, but, this is not for him, wrong arrangment, voice is off....in my opinion

Tony Bennett - Old Devil Moon -

Here is Tony Bennett, when he is finding his voice, his beat....see the difference from the great Tony Bennett...practice other versions of each song....The Beatles said that they played so many gigs together in Germany, that it was practice practice practice, before they found their beat...

Connie Boswell - Blue Moon

.  As a teacher, I would suggest, that this is a great song for all voices to practice with, listening to other artists arrangments , voices, beat, etc... from the first recording, to subsequent recordings, until you find yourself in the mix .  Once you get your own beat, then move on to another song that has survived the years...with a mix of artists, do the same thing.  There are some songs that call you to listen, note that this song calls you to listen to what comes next from the orchestra....
many of them are posted on my blog....I think, Stareyes, is another great one to practice with.

Blue Moon - original version from the movie Manhattan Melodrama

The saga of Blue Moon,  We where playing this on the piano, every time we saw a piano, whether we knew how to read music or not....everyone could pick out the tune.

Santo & Johnny - Blue Moon (1959)

This song has been around so long

THE GREAT GATSBY - Official Trailer (2012) [HD]

Understanding the 1920's,  from this trailer.  What you see is a picture of the super rich, but there was a world of immigrants....New York City was teeming with immigrants, fresh off the boats, and anxious to become part of the fabric of America.  Everyone wanted a chance to work and have the good life.  They left opression, they left a world without opportunity for a world wide open to start a business, and prosper.  The 1920's  where really interesting.   Everyone should know this story...it is telling in many ways. I will tell you more in another blog, soon.
