music, thoughts, books, dreams, more

Just my world of dreams, music and thoughts. Author of two books, one a novel of Love stories set in Framingham, Mass, Secrets of the Heart the 2nd book an autobiography of growing up in Framingham, Mass. Small Town America, Framingham My generation was the first teenage generation, that was when the word was coined. Ours was the generation that started cruising through town and to the drive in theater and drive in restaurant. In our area, Ernie Kampersal, from Holliston, drove his bucking car through town, picking up girls. It rose in the air, like a stallion! We went to the soda shops and played the juke boxes. It was a different town, a different time, and it belonged to us!

Les Paul & Mary Ford - How High The Moon (original 78 rpm)

This was playing on the juke boxes at the Wellworth, Byron was serving frappes, grilled cheese and more, ducktails were in, as were bobby socks, and peg pants..

"I Think Of You" - Frank Sinatra

A more mature, more emotional, presentation ....his voice has a deeper sound from its maturity?

RARE I Think of You - Frank Sinatra and Tommy Dorsey

A great teacher, here is his early version as a band singer...an accessory to the band.

Band of Gold - Don Cherry (1955)

The song from Mad Men.  Don Cherry had a wonderful voice.  We never got enough of his music!

Why Jazz Happened by Marc Myers(Dec 10, 2012)

There was a write up in the Wall Street Journal, that caught my attention to this book.  It describes the Musician Union struggles that created resulting changes in the size of the records,  from single play records to albums and to 45's.   The review is available on Amazon.com, click above.

Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong: Dream A Little Dream Of Me

Watching tv perfume ads this weekend , I was turned off, were you?   Tv ads promoting perfume with sex ads...magazines say do it once and do it again?  Then we wonder what is  happening to our world?  How about Ella selling love, in perfume ads instead of sex?
Why do we need to encourage what our hormones tell us?  Songs like this talk of love rather than just sex....isn't that what it is suppose to be about?  We need to take an accounting of our culture, there is a great cry for attention by our young people...violence is the price.  But, what do I know?  What do you think?

Anne Murray- Moments To Remember

Here is an oldie that was very popular, and she had a very nice distinct voice

Andrea Bocelli - The Lord's Prayer.

We should all be in awe of this world, of which we know very little other than what we observe in the tiny light spectrum we are allowed, in the tiny dimensions  of space we are allowed.....what more can one say?  It is truly awesome and we can only think to  give thanks each day, as in this song, believers or not.

Trans Siberian Orchestra- A Mad Russian's Christmas

Maybe we  have lost the magic in the world?  Maybe we have to bring the magic back.who is hurt by Santa Claus, or the Nutcracker?
Or for that matter Cinderella?  Magic, dreams, hopes, aspirations, are we flattening them?  I for one believe that we need magic to encourage our inner life.

Trans Siberian Orchestra The Ghosts Of Christmas Eve

Hmmm?  Is it me, or is it that Christmas music is no longer commanding the airwaves at this time of the year?

Blue Christmas - Brian Setzer Orchestra

Is it because he reminds me of Elvis, that I seem to remember this was  an Elvis song?

Brian Setzer & Brad Paisley - "Sleigh Ride" ((CMA Country Christmas 2011))
