music, thoughts, books, dreams, more

Just my world of dreams, music and thoughts. Author of two books, one a novel of Love stories set in Framingham, Mass, Secrets of the Heart the 2nd book an autobiography of growing up in Framingham, Mass. Small Town America, Framingham My generation was the first teenage generation, that was when the word was coined. Ours was the generation that started cruising through town and to the drive in theater and drive in restaurant. In our area, Ernie Kampersal, from Holliston, drove his bucking car through town, picking up girls. It rose in the air, like a stallion! We went to the soda shops and played the juke boxes. It was a different town, a different time, and it belonged to us!

Rodgers and Hart "Lover" - Peggy Lee

this was a major hit and my favorite for Peggy Lee.  The violins that start the song, that appear in the background, oh, this arrangment is just spectacular!

Peggy Lee: Fever!

this was the major hit...for the song...Peggy Lee had the right sound in her voice, the arrangment called up the fever!  Fever still echoes in our music reportoire of long ago.

k.d.lang - Fever ( audio 2003 )

Interesting arrangement, different beat for a popular song...clever...sounds, and timing.

Ella Fitzgerald - Skylark

Another song that has a lasting appeal

Billie Holiday - "i´ll be seeing you"

I always think of my aunts saying good bye to their boyfriends/husbands as they went off to the horror of the 2nd World War, none of us knowing if we would ever see them again....songs were tearful, songs of longing, songs of love, as we lost years of our lives, to a war like no other in the history of our known world, ending with the dropping of two atomic bombs.

And The Angels Sing,Ziggy Elman with Tommy Dorsey

I love the Tommy Dorsey intro to this song... and then Ziggy takes it......I guess this is my favorite version..

Benny Goodman, Martha Tilton - AND THE ANGELS SING

;ooking for a great song...this is one of the best...great for instrumental or vocal

Rosemary Clooney - Baci Mi Bambino

Andrea Bocelli - Besame Mucho (2006)

this is from one of my favorite albums Under the Desert Sky...

Mario Lanza - Because

One of the great songs of its time

Mario Lanza - With a Song in My Heart - Garbo & Taylor - Astaire & Charisse

A wonderful song

Mario Lanza - Toselli's Serenade

If you listened to WKOX Framingham on Sunday, in the 1950's, I guarantee you, that you heard this song many times.

Mario Lanza - Parlami d'Amore Mariu

Here is a splendid voice of the 1950's singing the same song...what a beauty!

Parlami d'amore Mariù

If you grew up in the listening area of WKOX, Framingham, Mass., in the 1950's this was a song you would have heard on the Italian hour with Peal Oliver and her father Guido Oliver, they had the immensly popular show that was always on Sundays for those who longed to hear the beautiful music of Italy.  Pearl and or her father had to love this song, because it was played almost every Sunday, it became part of my life.

baciami piccina

Everyone knows the Rosemary Clooney version....this is a great swing version of the song...I heard anothe version yesterday that was slower and really good, trying to find it.
