music, thoughts, books, dreams, more

Just my world of dreams, music and thoughts. Author of two books, one a novel of Love stories set in Framingham, Mass, Secrets of the Heart the 2nd book an autobiography of growing up in Framingham, Mass. Small Town America, Framingham My generation was the first teenage generation, that was when the word was coined. Ours was the generation that started cruising through town and to the drive in theater and drive in restaurant. In our area, Ernie Kampersal, from Holliston, drove his bucking car through town, picking up girls. It rose in the air, like a stallion! We went to the soda shops and played the juke boxes. It was a different town, a different time, and it belonged to us!

Etta James - At Last - Lyrics

I will skip right to the greatest version.   I was sitting in a restaurant in Martha's Vineyard, when the first bars of the song came out....I stopped talking, I had to listen.....the version was incredible....I had to buy it.  The song graduated  into the new culture and it was incredibly beautiful.....so Etta James became one of my favorites...again it is arrangment ......listen to the background music, she carries the tune, and the back up is beautiful...Gorgeous!
Thanks for sharing with me today.l

Glenn Miller & His Orchestra- At Last (+playlist)

This is how the song appeared to me, in the culture of the time  and it was a knock out song, we all loved it....the orchestral arrangement still causes us to quiet down in a hall....and quietly get to the floor to dance.

Julio Iglesias - La Mer / Musique finale La Taupe (Tinker Tailor Soldier...

Listen to this arrangement, the sounds, the intro,( even speaking in French), you can feel it coming!  This is a Wow arrangement.!.......The repeating horns in the background, the voice that is strong and clear, in spite of the sound of a big orchestra...
I hope my conversation today, helped you to the importance of the arrangement, your back up music, your collaborator if you have one....why does everyone love this, why do they ask , what was the song at the end of the movie?  That is the question you want to hear.... is this the same song you heard at the start of my little discussion today?  Just my opinion, I love music..don't we all?.

Bobby Darin - Beyond the Sea

the very hip Bobby Darin had the greatest version , for our culture at the time, the age of jitter bug!  We loved this...loving and yet, with the tempo we craved...

La Mer, French Kiss - Kevin Klein

A love song ...longing ...expressed by the presentation....in keeping with the original song....

La Mer. Charles Trénet

This is how the song was imagined in our culture for years, as it came from France....

La Mer - Django Reinhardt

Now for three or 4 examples of one of the  most beautiful melodies....Django of course has a gypsy sound , a yearning , that crosses with the desert breeze in the evening as the sun goes down and the desert turns cold....the tears in the heart version...  wonderful!

Peggy Lee - Lover (1952)

Wow!     This just collapsed our worlds into magic....what a introduction, what an arrangment!   Peggy Lee ran away with this song, in my estimation.....genius presentation.....

Frank Sinatra "Lover"

I have mentioned this before, the arrangement is   SOOOOO IMPORTANT...who accompanies you....This is Frank before Nelson Riddle, coming into his own, with a great rendition of Lover....who could not love...this?  Now, to illustrate we go to  the rendition that blew us away...
