music, thoughts, books, dreams, more

Just my world of dreams, music and thoughts. Author of two books, one a novel of Love stories set in Framingham, Mass, Secrets of the Heart the 2nd book an autobiography of growing up in Framingham, Mass. Small Town America, Framingham My generation was the first teenage generation, that was when the word was coined. Ours was the generation that started cruising through town and to the drive in theater and drive in restaurant. In our area, Ernie Kampersal, from Holliston, drove his bucking car through town, picking up girls. It rose in the air, like a stallion! We went to the soda shops and played the juke boxes. It was a different town, a different time, and it belonged to us!

The Caisson Song (Original US Army Song) - Singalong with Lyrics

\\We fought hard, and long to keep our country free, we created music , film and a spirit that changed our world, coming soon, my observations of what happened during the Second World War, as a child of 7 -11.

"Enchanted"   it was a time, when men where drafted and  lost their dreams of the future, their opportunities  some lost their girl friends to other men.  Some women lost their men to women in foreign lands. How many never came home to pick up their dream?  How many came home to never know life the same again?  What sacrifices !  We rolled bandages at the kitchen table at night, we saw the horror of war at our Saturday "kids" matinee!  Instead of Cowboys and Indians we took to playing and singing songs like this, and winning our make believe battles of the war, in the vacant fields and yards around Hollis Street in Framingham, Mass.

Exxon Wins Prized Access to Arctic With Russia Deal - NYTimes.com

interesting article  will raise all kinds of thoughts in your mind.
Could this be the beginning of proof that trade helps the world?

I thought that  The Silk Road in World History, would be interesting.

 I have already read,
A Splendid Exchange  which got me interested in trade., it is very good reading.
'
Maybe if I had it all to do over, I would find a way to study trade and its consequences, because it is probably one of the most fascinating human experiences.

what is possible in the future. The march of progress is inevitable.  Have you ever wondered , as I have, if all the periods of time are in existence at the same moment, that we exist in?  Often times I think that someday we will be surprised to encounter that thought as a reality, and what appears to us as ancient civilizations, just look like that , when they happen to be discovered in our moment.  Hmmmm!

"Enchanted", the 2nd World War had ended

Another peek at what is coming

"Enchanted" by
Madlyn A. Fafard

My 6th grade class at Memorial School, Framingham, Mass, probably 1946 right after the war ended. I am on the far right in the third row back. We too, became part of Framingham of the future, many of us lived around here for most of our lives, Framingham, Ashland, Medway, Holliston, Sherborn, Southboro, some went far away, forever.

Soon you will meet Madeline my friend with the birth defect that caused her head to twist. On her right is my good childhood friend Arlene Scansaroli and behind Arlene is Marie, the sister of Madeline. Each of the faces has a story to tell, but, how I can tell them all I think, as I allow myself to fall back to those days.

I see Rita Stevens peeking out, third row on the left, saying, to my wandering mind, “How could you forget me?”

These “kids” where family to each other through out the war.

"ENCHANTED", COMING SOON

My first novel, surprised me yesterday when an agent called for permission to submit it to film producers at  Universal Studios.  Just the thought of that happening is exciting.

Here is a peek at a snippet of  my  next novel.."ENCHANTED"

CHAPTER 4
The Adventurers
I have been busy with an overview of life back in the late 30’s and early 40’s. Now, it’s time to give you more history of the times because everything has to be visualized in your own mind. In those days movies were in black and white and we thought more in grey tones, of the days that came before us. Strange, isn’t it?

Lets pause a moment to think about generations. Each generation has about 20 plus or minus years of power. My Grandparents and their generation were in power for let’s say, 1920’s to 1940’s. The Greatest Generation, my parents, 1940’s to 1960’s. and my generation 1960-1990’s. I like to think that the resulting longevity that we have attained has allowed the generations to increase the power span by close to another 10 years; I believe that has started to happen in our generation.

My generation knows our town, not quite as you do, but garnished with stories and events that created our town. The town my generation built is hidden in the mists of time, only visible when one brushes aside the landscape of today. Then one can see off in the distance, clouds of memory which can be drawn down like roller shades, to recreate the scenes of the past, through coffee shop banter between 6:30 and 8:30 A. M. many mornings, at the donut shops in town. This is where you will hear the names of old.

“I remember when Tony Capobianco was the manager of the Gorman and St. George theaters, and remember when he married the cashier, Annabelle. She was a beautiful butterfly, a pretty blond who wore spike heels and dressed elegantly. When the theaters closed they both went to work at Ken’s Steak House.

" Do you remember?”

Want to find your memory town? Then find the donut shop where the old timers go, where morning talk speaks tremulously, “Remember when?” Then memories flow, for this is where the gnarled and twisted roots of memory still exist. Time is curious. Will the life I knew, ever be known again on earth? Could my generation live again in another time and place in the Universe? Who knows?

As if in answer, my friend, Mark Hanna, of Ken’s Steak House, appeared in a dream last night, though he passed on, a few years ago.

I questioned him,  " How can you be here?”

Then immediately thought came to me, does it really matter if he died, since he is still here and we are talking. Don’t we all encounter those who have passed on at one time or another in our dreams? Is this just a function of the mind? Or could it be more than that? Will we ever know? Maybe we are on the verge of knowing, because of Dr. Robert Lucas, who says, along with many others that, life is an illusion.  Dr Lucas, through his studies gives root to the idea that when we die, we continue to exist. Lucas goes on to say, that it is time that reboots, and we can select from a stairway, to experience time again, as we choose.

The 1940’s and 50’s created,” our time” and it lingered through the early 1990’s. By the late 1980’s a new town had started to appear, gently at first, imposed by a new generation that began to thumb tack over us, here and there in a scatter pattern of leaves, a canopy that covered our world in time as we knew it. We looked at each other in amazement, what had happened, where had we disappeared to? Once we had the power to create, to voice opinion, to elect Presidents.

Three books, breezing through first two, then slower to digest Paul Von Ward

In between my writing, which I finally decided, to send to the publisher this week.... I decided to read a couple of light books.  I bought this " A World I Never Made" on my Kindle and just finished it.   I am now reading Pieces of My Heart, by Robert Wagner on my Kindle.

It is light, easy to read, and full of actors and acresses.  I was totally surprised by the Barbara Stanwyck affair....and astonished at Yvonne Di Carlo....wow!   It is moving fast, because of all the stars he mentions, and I have not got to Natalie Wood yet.

I previewed Paul Von Ward and will finish Wagner's book before I jump into "We've Never Been Alone", it appears fascinating because, the clues are there, and have been there through the centuries.   It is too long an explanation to go into the many clues, but think about reading this book, even if you do not agree.  It could be fascinating.

This is the stuff that will make you feel so much better if you have joint pains...
I started with this small spray bottle.
Then I discovered that I liked it so much, I was using it regularly in the morning , and again at night...or when I was uncomfortable.  The longer you use it the better it is, and of course I exercise at least 15 minutes a day to keep the joints active
so I bought this large size, because I truly feel this works, and it seems to help even more with regular use 2 times a day.  You will probably notice it after a month.

If you have a pain in the shoulder or knee, spray it on and see what happens...

Stuart Varney, is a good listen

Did you wonder why Warren Buffet a billionaire wants to raise taxes on the rich and is a confidant of the President?

Today on Fox and Friends, Stuart Varney said....."Warren Buffet owns stock in Moodys, and Moodys did not downgrade the dollar, and if Warren Buffet gets his way and taxes are raised on the rich, Buffet will make millions."

Woody Guthrie- This Land Is Your Land

this is what Woody Guthrie wrote, to give us another song of pride in our land.

Kate Smith introduces God Bless America

The song that swept the country during the second world war. It was such a popular song that Woody Guthrie wrote a song to combat it, he was so sick of hearing it.   From my new book, out in about two months," Enchantment" , how and why my generation became some of the greatest patriots ....we had the tears in our hearts and souls for the boys who went to war, and can never forget that time.

Vacationing for about 10 days

Took a trip along the St Lawrence Seaway, it was a nice trip, not alot of traffic, beautiful scenery, especially when we got down to Rt 20 alternate and headed west through farm country to Derby, New York.  I started reading again, finally, writing is taking up so much time, that my reading had slackened off,  I finished Eat, Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert easy reading, and now The Girl Who Played with Fire  by Stieg Larsson, (complicated by unfamiliar names), but a plot that is so intricate you can't wait to turn the page and find out what the 'heck' is going on.  Love it and looking forward to finishing it this week.

Then, I will publish my second book called, Enchanted,   A memoire of growing up in the 1940's and 1950's .  How in the world did our parents keep us in a state of childhood enchantment while a war raged around us for 4 plus years til most of the world was on fire!  I am scared and excited, because I think, who am I to write ?  But on the other hand why not, I have a story to tell, and maybe some of you will like my story telling.
