music, thoughts, books, dreams, more

Just my world of dreams, music and thoughts. Author of two books, one a novel of Love stories set in Framingham, Mass, Secrets of the Heart the 2nd book an autobiography of growing up in Framingham, Mass. Small Town America, Framingham My generation was the first teenage generation, that was when the word was coined. Ours was the generation that started cruising through town and to the drive in theater and drive in restaurant. In our area, Ernie Kampersal, from Holliston, drove his bucking car through town, picking up girls. It rose in the air, like a stallion! We went to the soda shops and played the juke boxes. It was a different town, a different time, and it belonged to us!

LEAN, BABY ( Billy May ) BILLY MAY And His Orchestra 1973 Instrumental

Bet you never heard this, or completely forgot about it.....this was a big hit, back int he 50's when Billy May was popular, and we loved the horn sound...

Louis Armstrong - A Kiss To Build A Dream On

Today feels like this, and imagine I just came from the dentist!  It is a day for remembering the great music of the past....

Manhattan Transfer - On a little street in Singapore 1978

I love Manhattan Transfer. and this is a great little song, about a little street...rhythm, vocals and arrangement are so pleasant, and up beat!

Frank Sinatra - Night And Day [1977 Disco Version]

And now, the times they were a changing and so was Frank adapting....

What made Frank the greatest singer....he was down once, like all of us ...but he worked hard, he developed his voice, his style, and got Nelson Riddle, a great arranger to work with him.  Success , hard work, planning, choosing his music and his arranger....the magic of success!

Frank Sinatra Night And Day Reprise (1961)

Sinatra re inventing Night and Day...

Frank Sinatra - Night And Day (1957 version)

Note the difference in arrangement, breath, presentation....by now we were out of high school and teens had been swooning for years!  This was the start of swooning....

Frank Sinatra - Night And Day 1943 Version - Cole Porter Songs

Oops I said three times he recorded this song, It was 4 times..... I was in first or second grade and my friend's sister was a teen....and in love with Frank, as all teen girls where...

André Rieu - My Way (Live at Radio City Music Hall, New York)

What a marvelous tribute to our wonderful Frank Sinatra.  I wondered why he chose this song, other than it might personify Frank to him....If you read my blog you know that I talked about Night and Day, as the song that we who grew up with Frank Sinatra, recognized as the song of songs for him.  He recorded it three times during my growing up years, it followed us from what we now call middle school thru high school and beyond....so in my mind, Night and Day is the song of songs for Sinatra.  It is just terrific that we have Siriously Sinatra on 71 Sirious Radio, because all day long I can listen to the marvel of Sinatra, when I choose to, and that is at least every time I drive somewhere,

Tyrone Power - The Black Swan

Welcome to the St George theater....films for the teenagers....adventure...and more...

Easter Parade -- Easter Parade (Fred Astaire, Judy Garland)

Welcome to the newer movies that played at the Gorman....no Hopalong Cassidy , Roy Rogers, or Gene Autry, so when we graduated from the cowboy movies, we went across the tracks to the" upper theaters."..

New Adventures of Tarzan (1935) - Full Movie

Just to bring you back to what it was like for us "kids" in the 1940's at the Hollis Theater, I don't think the St George or the Gorman played the Tarzan movies..  They played more updated movies at those theaters...the old ones played at the Hollis Theater....We even saw Hopalong Cassidy there..   Did you know there was a Tarzan before Johnny Weismuller?

I Remember You - Ella Fitzgerald

Another version of this great song, this time by the voice...Ella ....smooth like dark choclate covered carmels might sound if they became music?

Beegie Adair - I Remember You

We had fabulous musical shows, and great music writers and lyricists, Broadway was aglow with the great musicals of the age...Life was looking up, and not despairing....we were working toward a better world...What was different in our approach, was it the culture, the music, and the rhetoric, maybe not so barbed , maybe not so over the top ...?

Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You

The arrangement is the VOICE!  Everyone loves this song...and when they pop up in the desert of much of what we hear today, it is like a breath of fresh air.

Peggy Lee - Lover (1952)

Listen to the arrangment, where or when , and or  who is putting spectacular music like this out for our ears, hearts, minds and souls...

Will we ever experience this kind of music again?

Julio Iglesias - La Mer [Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy ending]

Music like this is hard to find this day.....the arrangement is dynamite, everyone recognizes it and it stays with you...

Just as Peggy Lee's version of Lover.... which I will post next...

Your Immortal Body of Light, a book review from my latest reading pile.

At last , with 4 books going at once, I finally finished the fastest and easiest one to read, I am not sure you will want to hear about the others...but, maybe I will tell you....as I near the end of them.

Years ago, was it the 1960's we had Jane Roberts?  Her channeled books by
"Seth" mesmerized me when I found them in the 1980's    Yes, I recalled seeing her
interviewed on television back in the sixties. Life circumstances made me too
skeptical to pay attention. By the 1980's I had reached a point where I was more
willing to enter the world I had once before shunned.  "Seth" captured me and I
jumped into every book  written by  Jane Roberts.[[ASIN:0971119805 The Seth Material: The Spiritual Teacher that Launched the New Age]]  You could start with this one, if interested.

This book " Your Immortal Body of Light",surprised me because the author is a
doctor and goes where few doctors have dared venture.  The last book by a doctor
that remains forever in my mind is [[ASIN:0767900952 The Heart's Code: Tapping the Wisdom and Power of Our Heart Energy]] It was breathtaking, as he spoke of heart transplants and memory.

The message again is clear..... our souls are forever , they are precious and everlasting!
As I write this I think of course!  What else is new?  We all know instinctively
that we are basically displaying our souls when we are on earth.

Whether you are ready for this often considered skeptic information or not ,
it doesn't hurt to read the experiences of someone who allowed himself to put
down defenses and approach the unknown.  In his journey he BECAME !

Wish we all could experience the help he offered the souls he interacted with.

Sometimes I think that drugs  legal as well as illegal and other unnatural
manipulation of the body chemistry opens it to invasion , it goes beyond
dis-ease as we know it but into what is described here as spirit attachment that
disintegrates your body in a parasitic way,  sounds way out there doesn't it?
Maybe we are too primitive to accept the possibilities that might be staring us
in the face!

A very absorbing reading adventure that offers purpose to life.  Even if
you remain skeptic, what more noble purpose is there than attempting to have the
best soul you can have?

Have a little fun today, and enjoy this light and easy to read book...I reviewed it on Amazon, and copied the review here.  You can find the books I mentioned easily on Amazon.

Laugh for today!

Subject: Fw: Dear Tech Support.
Date: April 5, 2014 9:35:12 PM EDT

Dear Tech Support,

Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend to Husband and noticed a distinct
slowdown in overall system performance, particularly in the flower and
jewellery applications, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend.

In addition, Husband uninstalled many other valuable programmes, such as
Romance and Personal Attention and then installed undesirable programs such
as Football, Golf, Sailing and Continuous TV. Conversation no longer runs,
and Housecleaning simply crashes the system.

I've tried running Nagging to fix these problems, but to no avail. What can
I do?

Signed, Desperate.

Dear Desperate,

First keep in mind, Boyfriend is an Entertainment Package, while Husband is
an Operating System. Please enter the I Thought You Loved Me app and run the
Tears function. You may like to try the Guilt function also.

If that application works as designed, Husband should then automatically run
the applications Jewellery and Flowers, but remember - overuse of the above
application can cause Husband to default to Grumpy Silence, Garden Shed or
Beer. Beer is a very bad program that will download the Snoring Loudly Beta.

Whatever you do, DO NOT install Mother-in-law (it runs a virus in the
background that will eventually seize control of all your system resources).
Also, do not attempt to reinstall the Boyfriend program. These are
unsupported applications and will crash Husband.

In summary, Husband is a great system, but it does have limited memory and
cannot learn new applications quickly. It also tends to work better running
one task at a time. You might consider buying additional software to improve
memory and performance.

Good Luck, Tech Support.

AT LAST ~ Charlie Spivak & His Orchestra & The Stardusters 1942.wmv (+pl...

Saturday night in Framingham, Mass., during the war, the horns, were popular then, so I can never forget the distinctive sound...just remembering...bringing back memories of my parents, and yours....most likely...
