Marta Toren was a big star, back in the 50's, and so was Yvonne De Carlo, they looked similar. I was reading about Sophia Loren the other day, and learned that her new last name came from Toren of Marta Toren.

This musical, led my imagination into the desert, into adventure, and Lawrence of Arabia, which became one of my favorites when the movie came out.

Kathryn Grayson, Gordon MacRae - Desert Song

ha!ha! I thought he was singing to me, I loved this movie, and when he came to Framingham to appear at the Carousel Theater, I asked him, why not put this production on at the Carousel? He said, he had to appear in something that Sheila, his wife could be in also. So that was that...and I went home to dream of Gordon Mc Rae.

My mother's generation loved this duo, I heard this song on her phonograph, and it is still one of my favorites all these years later, as you must know, because I bring it back, back, back

VAUGHN MONROE - WHEN THE LIGHTS GO ON ALL OVER THE WORLD

Picture us, as little kids listening to this on our floor size radio, as our parents sat in their matching chairs, smoking with a standing ashtray between them. The ashtray had a clam shape that took and dumped the ashes and cigarettes below , so they would be out of sight and not smell as bad...then the air raid warning would sound.......remembering that sad, sad time, when men/boys left their sweethearts, fathers left their families and young men left their dreams to fight for freedom for our country, some gone for more than 5 years...some never to return....we can never forget...we fought for freedom.

The Platters - Once In A While (1963)

Taking back the past...wonderful music
as we danced with our then loves...long gone with the wind, like the clouds that wisk by in the sky.

Billy Eckstine - I Apologise

Regenerating a beautiful voice, and song from the early 1950's
It was a time when we had less confusion, less antagonism, or was it?

Billy Eckstine - Satin Doll

Regenerating the wonderful Billy Eckstine
and one of his big hits from the 50?'s or was it earlier?
