We were at war with Germany, but this song we shared with our enemies....a song of such longing for those who lost their boyfriends and husbands, as they went off to war. Women too, went to war, but they where not drafted, they volunteered and flew the supply planes across the Atlantic. Women went to work! Wow! women could go to work, I was amazed, at how the world was changing. Our car factories switched to making tanks. Our women turned out amazing numbers of B 52 bombers each week!
