South To A Warmer Place

On Siriusly Sinatra, I heard Frank sing this.  The song is without excitement for me, my husband agreed.  We wondered why he bothered to sing it?  The exercise in voice is not necessarily what the public wants.  What makes an artist sing a song ?  What is the decision making?  In books, it is what is popular , it appeals to a group of self help, etc....In music, what makes artists want to sing this particular song, other than an exercise in voice...?  What do you hear in this presentation that is appealing, I noted below more likes than dislikes.  But, this is important for young artists.  In my estimation this song is not worth the effort, but then what do I know...because the applause is polite.
