Della Reese - My Devotion

Her voice was special, and I miss hearing a voice like this.

Della Reese - Don't You Know? ("Puccini")

Oh well, I could not find Our Day will Come...but this popped up and it was a major hit!

johnny mathis (playlist)

Everyone does songs that are not right for them.  This arrangment is too fast for his voice, does not fit his style....who is it that does it best, Della Reese or Dinah Washington, got to go see....No no no, Johnny....you are still great, but THIS IS NOT YOU!

Johnny Mathis - Summer of '42

A wonderful movie from the early 70's and Johnny Mathis sang the theme song so beautifully!

Johnny Mathis- It's Not For Me To Say

Johnny is able to hold a note in a perfect pitch for a long time, that is his strength....what do you think?

MEL CARTER (Live) - Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me

this is the culture of the past, the songs you see on my site...far cry from what we hear today...think about our culture today .  When is the music business going to own up to responsibility for some of the things going on today?  They have to admit they could do better to help our culture.

Crooning 30's (playlist)

This was a movie back in the 1970's that left a profound impression, and the theme song was so lovely, hope you agree

Dinah Washington "What A Difference A Day Makes" (playlist)

The sounds of our 45's, clicking and ticking....Now listen to Dinah tell a story in song!  emotions of love , a caressing melody, all the right ingredients....what popular singer today can pull this off?

Michael Bublè - Anema e core

Doesn't this sound like Perry Como, then sometimes it is Frank Sinatra, and then????? Yep, Michael grows on you, haunts your days with his music.  I wonder how a duet with K.D. Lang would sound?

Peggy Lee - He's a tramp

Now, to me this is an example of a song that is able to make it beyond the cartoon movie.   It has no universal appeal in my book, other than it fits the movie..what makes it interesting is that the arrangment and the voice, allow it to be marketable, but I would not pick it for a major hit, would you?

Peggy Lee - I've got the world on a string

Peggy Lee is interesting, because she has a velvet voice, that can become a Speakeasy voice when the song calls for it!

Goody Goody (playlist)

I like anything that starts with a grooving sound.  Peggy Lee had some great back up music, think about how important that can be, just look at Frank Sinatra with Nelson Riddle.
