Teresa Brewer - (Put Another Nickel In) Music, Music, Music (1950)

After the war, we had juke boxes and soda shops, drive in's for food and music, it was a wild time, as teens got CARS!

Teresa Brewer - "Gonna Get Along Without you now"

After the war the word Teenagers was coined, and with this song you can see how we bopped!

Chris Connor - I Wish You Love

Most of her great songs are all on one 78 album, and might be available today, if interested.

I Miss You So - Chris Connor - 1957

This never became a mega hit, but I loved her voice, the song and the arrangment, played it over and over...don't you think it has potential?

Top Tracks for Chris Connor (playlist)

She was one of my favorites, tones of Ella seem to resonate ...lovely voice

Paul Desmond : Nuages

This is my favorite  piece by Django, but this version is woth meditating on.

Los Lobos - We Belong Together

The interview with The President on MTV, did not discuss the beauty of the past music...Who wants to hear about urban gangs, and terror in song?  It is one thing to envision horror, in the Warsaw Concerto, a piece of great beauty, but these songs we immortalize now, will they really be immortalized?  What do you think...up against the great songs of the past mid century, what will survive into the next mid century?

THIS MAGIC MOMENT-JAY AND THE AMERICANS

Just imagine over 1.3 million hits for this song that was popular ...how many years ago, take a peek!

Jay & The Americans - Cara Mia

Thts is one of the most amazing songs of all time as sung by Jay and The Americans...

"Stranger on the Shore" Acker Bilk

This was a favorite of mine in the long ago, how many of you know it or remember it?

over the rainbow- los indios tabajaras

As the east coast of the U.S. prepares for a severe storm, here is a calming song to think beyond it, make it go away with the power of many minds.

The Black Obelisk: Erich Maria Remarque: 9781931541909: Amazon.com: Books

This book was wonderful to teach us the tragedy of war, and what happens when people don't have jobs and money collapses in value etc.  This is what makes me think that maybe , just maybe the plan is to destroy the economics of the world, destroy jobs and bring the world to its knees....who and why?  The questions are out there, is it possible?  Am I the only one thinking this way?  But then what do I know?

Guy Lombardo and His Royal Canadians - That Old Feeling (1937)

When you heard this sound on the radio, you knew instantly it was Guy Lombardo and his Royal Canadians.  Everyone took in New Years's eve with Guy Lombardo...I thought that he was the only one to play on that evening, in the long ago.

Louis Hayes & Cannonball Adderley Legacy Band - Stars Fell on Alabama-Ch...

We loved the sound of the Sax and now you know why, here it talks to you.

Armstrong & Fitzgerald - "Stars Fell On Alabama"

Louis sounds a little hesitant...Ellas is cool calm and collected....then he warms up....

STARS FELL ON ALABAMA (Jack Teagarden)

He looks like a prize fighter of the past...but he was one of the well known jazz artists of his time

Vera Lynn - When The Lights Go On Again.

Could there have been a plan to destroy the economy of the world?  Why not?

Reba McEntire - The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia

Country, catchy tune, a story...can't be beat and great voice!

So This Is Love- The Castells

I almost forgot about this beautiful song.  I think it could be a hit again, as so many of the old songs could be.

ED TOWNSEND- FOR YOUR LOVE

Another hummer song, something to counter the hip hop, something to close your eyes and dream on.

NAT KING COLE - LOVE LETTERS 1957

The album, Love is the Thing, if you can find it, buy it for long time enjoyment.  It never wore out, and is part of my treasured collection of wonderful songs by Nat King Cole.

nat king cole & gordon jenkins/stay as sweet as you are

Just to hear this voice and arrangment again after so many years of being stored away in my record collection, brings memories of that long ago time.  His voice was incredible, his arrangments...I would play this over and over

26 Miles Across The Sea...

I wanted to go to California to see this Island, as all the young teens did, in those days, then we had Ft Lauderdale college break, and...

Santo & Johnny / Indian Reservation

Most of us love to watch Westerns, and the best ones are the ones that include the Indian nations of our great country.  They had a wonderful civilization, one that gave birth to our Constitution, did you know that?  Look up the Mohawk nation constitution, I think they where the ones whom we copied.

Santo & Johnny - a thousand miles away.wmv

Great song to play with ..maybe a mash up with another song?

You've Changed - Harry James & Dick Haymes [1941]

The sound of Harry James drags me back to the war years, the time of tears...for all of us that lived those days, safe in this country while our uncles, dads, and others went off to terrible battles on far away shores.

Oh! What It Seemed to Be - Dick Haymes & Helen Forrest

A song that played in our heads, and people sang, as they worked ...a song that took away the troubles of the day.

Dick Haymes - A Sinner Kissed An Angel..wmv

Sounds of the 1940's that carried into the 50's, some of the songs are forgotten, some live on, even the sounds are so different.  Do you think that people will be singing rap and hip hop in 50 years, as they do for the romantic ballads of the past.

Dick Haymes - Room Full Of Roses - A hit from the 1930s

Dick Haymes, a wonderful voice of the past and a major hit of the past...

KETTY LESTER - LOVE LETTERS (STRAIGHT FROM YOUR HEART)

A major hit many years ago, and my favorite version was by Nat King Cole
