Wings/Paul McCartney - Maybe I'm Amazed (HQ)

This song lingers and calls you back, it is asking for something, you don't quite get to reach for....it leaves you longing for more.
A few more like this Paul...please

"Since I Fell for You" Lenny Welch

I know there are great songs and great artists, but guess I am making my own Great American Songbook...can't help but love this

CUBAN LOVE SONG - Edmundo Ros

We had a big Cha Cha craze, in the 50's

Roy Hamilton-Cuban Love Song Epic Records

this was a major hit by the Gaylords, but it is not available on youtube.  Great song, you can probably hear a sample on Amazon

Drifters - (I've Got) Sand In My Shoes (Original)

Here, the Drifters combine, Sand in My Shoes, with Under the Boardwalk

Cab Calloway "Saint James Infirmary"

Now, the Cab Calloway version, you wait for Hi de Ho! and Minnie the Moocher....but, they aren't there.

Amazon.com: Artie Shaw, King of the Clarinet: His Life and Times (9780393340105): Tom Nolan: Books  It must be read, I guess, because Artie Shaw was a genius, who lives today in his music.  What where his muses?  What happened to the guiding light of potential, that is  inside of all of us, why did he let it go out at 44 years of age?    Maybe there is an answer to why some of us never reach even part of our potential.

St. James Infirmary - Eric Clapton, Dr. John

Yep, the Eric Clapton touch is unmistakable!  The Blues come alive with this version

Artie Shaw and Tommy Dorsey - "The Continental" HD Quality Recording

We had Artie Shaw, Jimmy and Tommy Dorsey, and I began to think that the piano could be displaced as the greatest instrument.  You probably did too, when you listened to the great music of these artists.

They Say - Helen Forrest

Finding music that is beautiful, old and still deserving ....Helen Forrest, speaks magic to us, in this arrangement

SOFTLY AS IN A MORNING SUNRISE - Artie Shaw

A start to a gorgeous Saturday morning in the south, with the great Artie Shaw

this music played in my home, as Mom did her housework, maybe on the radio, or the crank up phonograph with the big 78 records.

MAYTIME.. i will always love you.

Movies were made from the great operettas of the time, and now you know why the parents of that generation sang these songs and loved these two performers...

JUAN GARCIA MEDELES "SIBONEY"

this is a perfect follow up for Adios, and I wonder how it would sound in the background as Adios played in the foreground...???

Les & Larry Elgart: Adiós

Yes, the Tango was banned in Boston, but not the Cha-Cha..

Los Indios Tabajaras Adios, Begin the Begining

Good night from the magic guitars that they found in the jungle,

Billy Eckstine - I Apologise

this record had to be worn out right thru, it was played so much.  The last time I saw him was at Disney in Florida about 20 years ago, he still put on a great show, we all left wanting more of his magic music.

BILLY ECKSTINE - IT ISN'T FAIR

I think I wore out the grooves in this record and his other hits

Billy Eckstine - Satin Doll

We had all of his records was it 1949 on?

Duke Ellington - Satin Doll

lots of versions of this, I suspect this is the best instrumental

Hedy Lamarr 2 (Samson and Delilah)

it is true, that Hedy Lamarr invented....read the blurbs here on You tube...there is no sound in the scenes, so go thru to Youtube

RUBY (Victor Young & His Orchestra)

Watched this movie the other night, the movie was so much more intense for me, as a young person. It was fun to watch it again.

Helmut Lotti " Cuando Calienta el Sol"

This was titled , Love Me with All Your Heart, in English

CARUSO - HELMUT LOTTI

I almost forgot about this magnificent voice and version of the song.

With A Smile And A Song -Carroll Gibbons and the Savoy Hotel Orpheans (F...

Not too many versions of this song available, I wonder who would fit this song today?  Maybe Adele?

Anne Murray - Snowbird (with lyrics)

Time for tea, and a bite to break  the end of the day.  Anne Murray had a wonderful husky voice, this song was a big hit for her.
The snowbirds are getting ready to head north, the weather is almost warmer in Boston , now.

"My Prayer" (Ink Spots, 1939)

The music of the turnof the decade, 1939-1940, just before the world came to a standstill......

The Ink Spots - Whispering Grass, 1940

Larry Kudlow program this morning , played one of my favorites...by the Great Ink Spots...it helps you reach into your soul and think of the beauty of the planet.

Dorothy Lamour "I Remember You"

Just another great song, from the movie, The Fleet is In...undying in it's beauty, and one of my favorites I have posted before by others.

Dorothy Lamour - The Moon Of Manakoora, 1943

Released during the war, we all dreamed of the gorgeous Pacific Islands, a break from the war , and somewhere to park our dreams then and in the future, when things got tough.

Snow white with a smile and a song (instrumental)

A gorgeous instrumental version of the song.  I tried to find the Tony Osborne version on You Tube, but it is not available there

With A Smile and A Song - Snow White

Sometimes I can't help but think that life is laid out for us, that maybe there is a path lit by stars through the Universe, with periods of black outs where we have to find our way back to the light.  I saw this film  maybe around 1939 when I was 4 years old.  My wonderful mother, sang this song with me for a long time, and we smiled through life, Mom and me.
The music never left me and this song, it seemed to carry a message that I   would share with my daughter who was terminally ill for most of her life.  We can do it, we can get through the tough days, it is not easy, but the path is there if we look for it.   Karen and I always tried to be positive, it was the most difficult life for her and for me, that one can imagine, yet we got through it.

The Root of all Evil is?

Product Details

Today, when reading The New York Times, I was brought back to another time, to a gentle man, and his influence on a generation.  We could not miss, with a man like this leading our children.  Just compare our today world, with the world we once knew.  We can't stop progress, but we can stop the wars, not just the wars over seas but the wars we are fabricating  in our own country for political gain.  Who ever is thinking up these fabricated wars, must be a mean spirited person, who puts winning over everything.  Who said money is the root of all evil?  I think it is the struggle for power that is the root of all evil, how about you?

The Benefits of Bilingualism - NYTimes.com

The Benefits of Bilingualism - NYTimes.com   This is an interesting article, which I happen to agree with.  Teaching children a second language from the early years, allows them to grow  in this diverse world and speak with people from other countries, who may not have had the benefit of being bilingual.
