The Best Love Songs of the 40s

Meggie in "Secrets of the Heart ," remembers these songs of the Great War, when our able bodied men left to go to war.  It was a sad time in America!  Let's remember this forever, let's remember the culture that got behind the men that left, to keep our country safe, and  bomb free!.  They always knew we supported them, we went to work in parachute factories, our car manufacturers switched to making tanks.  Rubber, meat and other commodities were needed by the war effort, food stamps rationed us, while practice air raids scared us!   Some of you may remember wrapping bandages to send to the front!  Come with Meggie into the war years in the small town of Framingham, Mass.  Learn what children thought of the war, and how it affected them as they grew to adults.  A timeless look at a period of time in America that is lost forever in the mists of the past.

13. Stéphane Grappelli, A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square

This song always had Meggie, the character in my book thinking of what it was like to be young, in love , and being sent off to war, leaving behind your loved ones.  Meggie talks about emotions of World War 2, in," Secrets of the Heart,"
This is old and hard to find, so be sure to get it , if you love Stephane as I do.  He is in my car collection of music for the winter.  Looking now for some Mel Torme, remember him?

KD Lang - Constant Craving

K.D. Lang, wonderful timbre, a good comparison  to Madeleine ( see below), I hear even more of the great Ella Fitzgerald in K. D., do you?  I love her album with Tony Bennett.  Going through my albums for my car, seasonal change of favorites, brings all these albums to my attention.  Hope you enjoy them..

Madeleine Peyroux - J'ai Deux Amours

if you don't know Madeleine Peyroux
take a listen to her great timbre, a little of Ella Fitzgerald ???  What do you think?  Her song," Careless Love", is also great on this album..

Art VanDamme - Star Eyes

if you follow my blog you know I think Star Eyes is one great tune!  Here it is performed with a great accordion sound, guitar and more!

Mystic Moods Orchestra - Stormy Weekend - Lover's Lullaby

Here is the music with the train sounds, and rain, give it a chance it starts up slowly. One stormy night and Fire Island are great ....you need to get the album, One Stormy Night which I just posted, great for a sunset and your loved one.

Mystic Moods Orchestra ~ Autumn Leaves

This is a great album, I am looking for One Stormy Night single to send you next, the sounds of nature in the background and the lone whistle of a train, are part of the beauty of the album.  It is a one of a kind, long forgotten album.

(1973) Empress Gladys & The Pips "Midnight Train To Georgia"

My favorite Gladys Knight song....the battle between Wilson Picket and Gladys...is it a draw?

Dick Haymes - My Heart Stood Still (Rita Hayworth)

you have to admit, listen to them all on You Tube...the musical arrangement and his tone, his timing...how could Rita Hayworth resist this love song? Mamas and the Papas version scroll down...it is okay!

"My Heart Stood Still" The Mamas & the Papas

The Secret Life of Plants,

Framingham Mass. prominent in my book Secrets of the Heart Madlyn Fafard

It was time to write a book after years of dreaming that someday, I would in fact be a college professor, and an author.  It never came to be, but now all of a sudden, one book came to me, as I learned and dreamed of the worlds we can not see.  It is a helpful look at how to handle life, and death, for those that are in despair.

It makes a great Christmas present for someone who grew up in the late 40's early 50's, a look at small town life, the emotions of war, and how children were affected are all there.  Then with the grown up view of life and death, one find's hope in what is yet to come.

My second book is on it's way, again, it will be a glimpse into the unseen world, pocketed wtih miracles, premonition and re-incarnation.

Billie Holiday - East Of The Sun (And West Of The Moon)

Etta James / At Last

bringing back the very best of Etta James, I was sitting in Christophers in Nantucket, when the music captivated me. I was stunned that I had not known of this song when she recorded it, I wrote it down and ordered it, as soon as I could. I think it is her best recording, ever. Listen to my battle of the blues today, scroll down for Ella and up for Billie.

Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald They can't take that away from me

My favorite voice, Ella, sweet wonderful tone, great scat, so listen to my Ladies. Louis Armstrong voice and horn is a counter point for Ella's sweet voice. scroll up to hear Billie Holliday and Etta James.  I posted one of her Christmas albums here for remembrance.

Bed Bug protection!

Protection is the best advice, once you get them in the house, it is terrible.  Only 120 degree steam heat kills them, so professional help is needed, and they can be any where , in your rugs, furniture, behind pictures etc.
The advice on line is to cover mattress and box sping with hypo allergenic covers with zippers and cover your pillows with the same material.  Also if you go in a hotel room, keep your clothes on hangars away from the bed and furniture, and put your luggage in the laundry bag to prevent bugs from getting in the luggage... maybe best to bring hanging bags that crunch down to fit in the laundry bags...

Before you buy, measure the width of your mattress, most covers are 12 inches in width, many of the new matttresses are wider than that.   So, get the measurements and order the correct size on line for all your needs..

Scerets of the Heart

One of my fan letters follows, please be sure you do not read it as an autobiography or you will be confused by the events.  It is the story of Meggie a small town American girl, like many of you, who dreams and envisions the events of the past, as she lies dying, even wandering into the scene of another life in her visions.

Dear Madlyn,

We had no idea what your book would hold But we find it fun and

reflective. Every night I try to read a chapter or so to Deborah and we

think back to our childhoods. We are up to chapter four now and I like the

long gone references to things of Framingham and the area, the first dates

and the night time cellar door entrances guarded by your Mom. The sad loss

of your Dad to smoking and Aunt Mary dancing in the kitchen. The hurricane

of "38" I think, not "39", and the stormed removal of a threatening tree,

the fear you felt as you pressed your nose to the glass during the furry.

The 50's and the guys dressed in T shirts and jeans, and the girls is

petticoats and dresses. The town hot rodders and the cars. Thanks good

stuff, we feel as though we are living a small part of your life.

Extra sensory perception, The Etheric Double by A.E. Powell

This book came to my attention a number of years ago, when I was learning about Annie Besant and the Theosophical Society.  Through using extra sensory perception, many  discovered the etheric double.  Not everyone can see this phenomena, and it  is not easy to tell why.  There are some people you can work with who will readily see it when instructed on how to do it.  There is a machine now invented by the Russians that can see the aura, which is different.  The etheric double is visible in a vapor like form, standing next to the human being, in outline.

My book, Secrets of the Heart,Madlyn Fafard, draws you into the unseen world, with extra sensory perception, miracles, re-incarnation, and eternal love.   Meggie the character in the book, hears the song, "Garden in the Rain", in her head, as she begins her journey into the teenage world and the beginning of her long life, tinged with all the events that anyone could want if they desired to see into the unknown world. Little does Meggie know the miracles that will frame her life, or that a long lost love will be eternal.
